Arnhem, Netherlands

Arnhem, a fairly large city, today best known as the place where took place one of the most famous battles of World War II. Arnhem became a town in 1233 and then for a long time was the center of conflicts because of its strategic location on the banks of the Rhine. Arnhem battle is part of operation "Market Garden", was held in September 1944. Advancing Allied forces (largely because of the number of errors) failed to protect the bridge and defeated. As a result of the entry of the Allies in Germany was delayed until the spring of next year. At these events, it was founded in 1977 movie "A Bridge Too Far."
