Iasi, Romania


Iasi from the XV century, is a major cultural and political center. Golden plateau with numerous churches and palaces - is the center around which the city developed over the centuries. At one edge of the plateau is the palace of culture, on the other hand - Unirii Square. The history of the city of Iasi is closely linked with the history of the Jewish people. It was published the first newspaper in Yiddish, and the Great Synagogue of the XVII century is the oldest surviving Jewish prayer house in Romania.
